How Huch More!

In October 1915, during World War I, Oswald Chambers arrived at Zeitoun Camp, a military training center near Cairo, Egypt, to serve as a YMCA chaplain to British Commonwealth soldiers. When he announced a weeknight religious service, 400 men packed the large YMCA hut to hear Chambers’s talk titled, “What Is the Good of Prayer?” Later, when he spoke individually with men who were trying to find God in the midst of war, Oswald often quoted Luke 11:13, “If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

The free gift of God through His Son, Jesus, is forgiveness, hope, and His living presence in our lives through the Holy Spirit. “For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened” (verse 10).
On November 15, 1917, Oswald Chambers died unexpectedly from a ruptured appendix. To honor him, a soldier led to faith in Christ by Oswald purchased a marble carving of a Bible with the message of Luke 11:13 on its open page and placed it beside his grave: “How much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” This amazing gift from God is available to each of us today.

Then He said to them, 22persistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs.

9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened. 11 Now suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he? 12 Or if he is asked for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion, will he? 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?” (Luke 11:5–13)

INSIGHT:

Would you want a God who gave you everything you asked for? Or would that be a bit frightening? While Jesus was teaching His disciples how to pray (Luke 11:1–4), He described God as being like a loving Father who would not give them a scorpion if they asked for an egg.

Was He just assuring us that God is good? Or was He gently suggesting something about us? Was He hinting that sometimes we don’t know how to pray for our own good? (Rom 8:26). Maybe that’s why He promised that His Father would share His Spirit with those who trusted Him for what is best (Luke 11:13).

Daily Prophetic Word

The Father says,

All darkness instantly flees the second the Light appears

. Even a flame has no shadow. You have the ability to be a constant demonstrator and lighthouse every day. Do you not know the power you possess over the enemy? He has to run in terror at the mere crack of light that flows out of your eyes and heart.

Understand that it is Christ in You the Hope and Glory! The Light is a constant energy source already inside and always available. Do not stand helpless looking to and fro. What you have in you is greater than all of the kingdoms of darkness. There is nothing that you cannot or will not overcome just by simply seeing things in the spirit and not with natural eyes.

Did I not say that I would send you a helper? Rely on the Holy Spirit in all that you do. As you continue to press in, you will be able to see more, hear more, and discern more. I will continue to take you up level after level for My Glory. I will never limit a willing heart who wants to experience the endless reaches within Me. My Kingdom is open for all of My Children to soar in.

I have not chosen favorites to partake of My inheritance solely. Come grab all that I have for you. Ask for more spiritual gifts, and I will begin to prepare you to to walk in those gifts. I desire for all of My Sons and Daughters to encounter the blessing of being My Vessels. Do not think you aren’t qualified. I decide to make a person qualified. You cannot do it alone.

~Blessings,
